Explore Ranthambhore

Ranthambore is a Tiger reserve, which is located in the district of Sawai Madhopur that is in the southeastern part of the state of Rajasthan, which is nearly about 130 km from Jaipur. Ranthambore National park is mainly famous for the Tigers living within this national park. Moreover, it is one of the finest locations within India to capture the majestic predators in a natural habitat. These Tigers can be easily spotted during the day busy in their daily quest of hunting and taking legitimate care of their budding ones. Ranthambhore is also being counted as one of the famous world heritage sites because of the photographic ruins and the Historical fort that compliments the natural wildlife park.

ABHAY MAHESHWARI

"Hawker to Hotelier"

This is an inspirational story of the person behind the Shergarh Resort, Mr. Abhay Maheswari (Owner), who comes from a local village near Ranthambore (Sawai Madhopur). Due to financial issues in his family, he could not complete his studies (studied up to grade 8). At a young age, he had to leave home to earn a living for himself and his family.

In 1998, when tourism started in Ranthambore and there were hardly any sources of income, he began selling souvenirs at the park entrance (T-shirts, caps, tiger paintings, etc.) to guests going on safari as a local hawker. He continued working as a hawker while also looking for more opportunities to increase his earnings.

After working hard from a young age, he managed to open a few rooms for budget travelers near the park gate. That budget hotel eventually became Shergarh Resort. Now, all the staff working at the resort are from the local village (47 staff members). There is also a small craft shop in the resort where all the products are made by local women, promoting local handicrafts.

This is how Abhay Maheswari transformed from "Hawker to Hotelier."

Each room at Shergrah Resort is exquisitely furnished, with comfortable beds and royal feel which summarizes culture and style of Rajasthan. Not to miss that along with giving a touch of Rajasthan to each accommodation, all rooms are equipped with all the modern facilities.
